Below are short presentations of bands and projects where Hannes Junestav works as a leader or co-leader of the group.
Hannes Junestav leads his own projects as a main platform for performing and recording his own compositions. His debut album Reassembled was released in 2022 with a band that went under the name of Hannes Junestav Quartet, with Britta Virves (piano), Uno Dvärby (double bass) and Jonas Bäckman (drums). Saxophonist Håkan Broström joined the quartet for the Reassembled project and album release.
Right now, Hannes leads a project connected to the upcoming release of his second own album Vinter, with a core quartet consisting of himself, Nina Sand (piano), Uno Dvärby (double bass) and Edvin Glänte (drums). Together with different constellations of guest artists, this band goes under the name of Hannes Junestav Group. For the upcoming album Vinter, Dina Grundberg (vocals, lyrics), Tobias Wiklund (cornet), Sebastian Mattebo (alto saxophone) and Sandra Arvman (violin), join the group to form the different constellations.

Sonko Bonko Stompers is a traditional jazz band, playing different types of New Orleans jazz music. The band's original setting is a quartet with Hannes, Mimmi Anterot (trumpet), Uno Dvärby (banjo, guitar) and Johan Tengholm (double bass), but also performs with an "extended" sextet setting, adding Sebastian Mattebo (soprano saxohpone) and Jonathan Leidecker (drums). With the sextet setting especially, focus is put on the music of New Orleans soprano saxophonist and clarinetist Sidney Bechet, featuring Sebastian Mattebo. Sonko Bonko stompers perform at concerts and dance events (like lindy hop) alike!
